The Short 2 Day Inca Trail will give you a chance to taste a beautiful scenery, a wide variety of flora and fauna and visit to the Inca Trail’s most beautiful site Wiñay Wayna, continuing through the famous Inti Punku (”Sun Gate”).

Second day of the trek includes a full day visit of the world-famous Inca Citadel of Machu Picchu. Covering a total distance to hike of just 10km / 6.3 miles this trek perfectly suits family adventure with children and those on a tight schedule. Try this 2 day adventure!

Short 2 Day Inca Trail Itinerary

First Day: Cusco – KM104 – Chachabamba – Winaywayna

After the pickup early in the morning from your hotel in Cusco we will get in our private bus to the Ollantaytambo station from where will take train to 104 Km of Inca Trail. Enjoy the spectacular views two and a half hours ride on a train. After crossing the bridge of Rio Urubamba we will visit the site of Chachabamba which is a worth to see ruin with its water channels and fountains.

First day trek will take you along the most impressive stretch of the Inca Trail. We will start hiking upwards for about 8 km, even trail is well established for the trekkers, there are still stairs and the hike is mostly upwards.

On the way up we will visit beautiful Inca sites, a variety of flora and fauna and get to take the look of the fantastic panoramas of the Andes Mountains. After our upwards climb, we arrive at the Incas site Wiñay Wayna called ’’Forever Young’’ at 2680m/8792ft altitude. Reasonably the Wiñay Wayna ruins are called most impressive site of the 2 day Inca Trail. This is an impressive complex made up of an agricultural center with terraces, a religious sector and an urban sector.

After a box lunch and some free time at Wiñay Wayna ruins we will then continue for about one hour further onto “Inti Punku” – “The Sun Gate” at 2730 m/8792 ft. altitude. This is the spot from where you will get to see the first glimpse of wonderful Machu Picchu! We will head down to get into Machu Picchu Citadel for a short walk around, to take pictures! The daylight of that time called “best light for the shooting”.

Enjoy spectacular views of Machu Picchu from Wiñay Wayna ruins in a 2 day tour.

After a short walk in Machu Picchu we will take a bus down to Aguas Calientes town where you will check in into your accommodation, have a dinner at a local restaurant and get rest before the next day’s early start.

The total day walking distance: 13 km (8, 08 miles), estimated walking time 6-7 hours, lunch and dinner included.

Second Day: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco

Get ready to wake up early on a second Short Inca Trail day! After breakfast we will take a bus at around 6am back to Machu Picchu. You will see again Machu Picchu in a different morning lust perspective!

We will have a 2.5 hour guided tour at the site during which you will learn about the Incas and visit all the most important areas of Machu Picchu Citadel. After the guided tour you can explore the mysterious city by yourself.

For those who still have energy you can climb one of the Huayna Picchu or Macchu Picchu Mountains which both will give you absolutely amazing view of Machu Picchu ruins from the top! After the tour at the ruins you will have free time to keep exploring yourself the mysterious Machu Picchu, relax or go back down to Aguas Calientes town. Train from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo leaves between 2.30 and 6.00 pm. For those who desire an extra night at Aguas Calientes let us know in advance in we can arrange extended stay for you. Once you in Ollantaytambo our staff will pick you up and bring back to Cusco being the end of the 2 day tour.
