About Us

Peru is a great country to visit with many sites from the Incas and other indigenous cultures, as well as many colonial sites, natural beauty, and more. Peru is safer than many other countries, including many other Latin American countries. Still, you should take precautions like you would in any other place to ensure that your trip goes smoothly and without any problems.

For one thing, some places in Peru have a lot of pickpocketing, so it would be wise to put things in pockets that have buttons or zippers, or pockets that are not on the outside of the clothing.  Also, try not to carry large amounts of money or other valuables.

There is not a lot of violent crime in Peru, but it is still a good idea to go in groups and avoid dark or empty areas especially at night. You should avoid areas that are known to be more dangerous (you can ask your guide about what areas to avoid).

You should make some copies of your passport before you leave, leave a copy with a relative or friend at home, and bring another one with you.

Do not buy DVDs or CDs from street vendors or outdoor stores or markets. Most are pirated and could be illegal in the country where you live. If that is the case, you could get in legal trouble in the country where you live if you bring one back with you.

Finally, use common sense as you would in any other place. There is not a lot of crime in Peru, but you should always avoid doing anything unwise.
