Climbing Adventure, Huaynapicchu Mountain

Huayna Picchu, Young Mountain, is to the north of Machu Picchu, one of the 7 Wonders of the Modern World. Huayna Picchu, at 2700 m, is an important part of Machu Picchu; it is located behind this great historical monument and it is the mountain that appears in most graphics and photos. Climbing the Huayna Picchu is full of adrenaline and a really exhausting experience due to the difficult access (about 45 min). Archeological groups where we can appreciate the great Inca engineering such as in the Temple of the Moon, the terraces, the astronomical observatory and/or point of guardianship are found up in Huayna Picchu; from the place we can appreciate the Intipunku, the different paths which get to Machu Picchu, the snowy Salkantay and Veronika mountains. Due to new regulations, only 400 people in 2 shifts are allowed to climb Huayna Picchu a day: 200 people at 7 am (first shift) and 200 others at 10 am (second shift). Entrance tickets must be purchased in advance and together with your Machu Picchu ticket. It is recommended to bring bottled water, wear good shoes and clothing according to season (raincoats from Nov. to March) but preferably climb from April to October (dry season).
