Inti Raymi 2012 - 1-Day Celebration of the Sun

The Sun, which was considered the most important deity in the whole Inca empire, was worshiped in the Inca culture and one of the most important celebrations then was that of “Inti Raymi,” the celebration to honor the god Inti (the Sun). The celebration of Inti Raymi or festival of the Sun takes place in three stages: the first part takes place at Koricancha (Temple of the Sun) and starts at 8 am, the second part takes place at the Plaza de Armas of Cusco at about 10:30; the last (main part) takes place at the explanade of Sacsayhuaman (5 km away from Cusco city) at about 1 pm. The tour finishes around 3 pm. with the transfer back to your hotel.
