The Inca Jungle to Machu Picchu 4-Days is an exciting, adventurous alternative to other regular Inca Trails! It includes biking on day 1 and great highlands and jungle border hiking on the remaining days! Here is what you will need to bring for a perfect vacation!
Biking Gear for the Inca Jungle (Included)
For the biking part of this tour there will be a support car.
- Helmet
- Visor
- Biking gloves
- Biking clothes
- Elbow and knee pads
- The bicycles we provide are classic, BMX type
- Strong, resistant tennis shoes (not included)
Hiking Gear for the Inca Jungle: What to Bring
- Sun hat or cap
- Sunglasses
- Warm jacket (if you are doing this trail on rain season -from November to March- also bring a waterproof jacket or rain poncho)
- Scarf
- Gloves
- Polyester shirts (they keep you dry for the longest)
- Nylon pants (they are the strongest and better if reversible into shorts, for the jungle border part)
- Mountaineering socks
- Good hiking boots
- A walking stick is almost mandatory, it enhances balance and speed. You can rent them from us (not allowed inside the Machu Picchu citadel)
Food and Drinks for the Inca Jungle: What to Bring
We will provide all main meals including breakfast on day 4, but as there are long hiking stretches, you should bring:
- Bottled water
- One or more of these items: energy bars, canned food, snacks, fruits, coca leaves tea (great for energy and altitude issues)
Electronics: What to Bring
- Photographic camera
- Smartphone
- Charging cords
- Currently there are portable solar panels for electrical charging
- Some hikers also bring a GPS for fun and adventure
Health / Hygiene
- Sunblock (mandatory)
- Bug repellent (mandatory)
- Altitude sickness pills (as a last measure, if acclimatization and coca leaves tea are not enough)
- Antibacterial hand sanitizer, antibacterial pads, band-aids, a few pills for pain and inflammation just in case
- Soap, razor, toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant
- Small towel
- Toilet and towel paper
- Small plastic bags for garbage, wet items, etc
Miscellaneous
- Pajamas
- Passport or ISIC card
- If you are going to visit the thermal waters in Santa Teresa and Aguas Calientes (both recommended): swimsuit, towel, sandals, comb
- Light jacket (for Machu Picchu)
- Extra money in soles for Santa Teresa, Aguas Calientes personal expenses (shopping, Inca massages, etc)
- A suitable backpack
