About Us

If you’re planning on going to Machu Picchu, you probably know by now that there’s no airport at the ruins. The closest you’ll be landing will likely be in Lima. It’s possible to get so focused on getting to the ancient Inca city that you forget to stop and smell the roses along the way, so to speak.

It’s true that Machu Picchu is the crown Jewel in Peru’s crown, but it certainly not all there is to see in Peru. Here’s a quick guide to things that you can do in Lima the way to Machu Picchu so that you can enjoy the journey.

In Lima, Eat at Saha

Going to Machu Picchu on an empty stomach is going to limit your ability to enjoy your trip. So take the time to try the best local cuisine in Lima by eating at Saha. The chefs are world class and so are the selections on the menu. They will give you a solid overview of the best that Peruvian food has to offer.

Circuito Magico del Agua (Water Fountain Park)

Some attractions become entirely different places at night and the Parque de la Reserva is no exception. Once night arrives, the fountains are lit up in spectacular and utterly magical ways. If you are spending only one day in Lima, then the fountains at this park belong on your list of things to do before you leave.

Swim With Sea Lions at the Palomino’s Island

The internet is chock-full of videos of adorable animals and humans that have the good fortune of being in the right place at the right time to interact with them. Instead of watching those experiences on the computer screen or smartphone, you can live the experience yourself by taking the time to swim with the seals up close and personal on the Palomino’s Islands. Seals aren’t the only sight to see there, you’ll also be able to spot exotic birds and Humboldt penguins.

Huaca Pucllana

Did you know that some of the ruins in Peru actually predate the Inca empire? One of those is the Huaca Pucllana. These ruins are located right in the heart of Miraflores, and provide a unique window into history. You can stop by there on your way to Machu Picchu since you’re already in Lima. Whereas there are virtually no accommodations in Machu Picchu, there’s a world-class restaurant located within the rooms of Huaca Pucllana, where you can enjoy Peruvian food from every corner of the country. Like the aforementioned fountains, the ruins are lit up at night.

Paragliding by the Coast

The highlight for many that are flying by airplane to Peru is the view from the sky. Imagine experiencing a similar view without the restricted vista of the airplane window. Granted, you won’t be able to fly as high as an airplane, but paragliding comes awfully close. A bird’s eye view of the coast is memorable and breathtaking and will sweeten the experience of traveling to Machu Picchu from Lima.

Barranco

Do you have an appreciation for art, historical architecture, and a lively night scene? Barranco is likely the place for you, then. At night, Barranco transforms into Lima’s party district with a selection of great restaurants and themed alternative bars whose doors are open to Peruvians and foreigners alike.

Walk Along The Malecon de Miraflores

Seeing the city of Lima itself is worth coming to Peru, but don’t forget some of the spectacular views that you can get of the ocean and the beaches. One of these avenues is a boardwalk In the district of Miraflores, Malecon.

Drink Pisco Sour

If you have an appreciation for alcohol, this is a drink you can’t leave the country without trying. It’s a Peruvian alcoholic delicacy. It’s made of blends of pisco, which is a kind of liquor, combined with lemon juice, cane syrup, and egg whites. Don’t worry, you can’t taste the egg whites. They’re used to create the foamy part of the drink. You don’t want to drink it too fast so that you do not get ultra-tipsy on accident.

There’s more to Peru than Machu Picchu, and there’s more to TOUR IN PERU than booking your place in the citadel. Look into your options for enjoying the surrounding area as well!
