Planning your journey to Machu Picchu this April? Here is some important information for all travellers who are planning hike the Huyana Picchu and Machu Picchu Mountains. During some maintenance works both mountains availability will be slightly affected.

Both mountains (Huayna Picchu and Machu Picchu) of the Machu Picchu Sanctuary will close temporarily 2 weeks each in the month of April 2016 for maintenance. Some walls, platforms and Incan steps need to be repaired and looked after for the safety and comfort.

Mountains closure and availability

Huayna Picchu Mountain will be closed the first two weeks of April between the 1st – 15th and Machu Picchu Mountain will close for last two weeks of the month 16th – 30th April 2016.

Availability

The Huayna Picchu Mountain permits are sold out for the April 2016, if you want to climb the Machu Picchu Mountain during this period do book now as limited availability means that tickets sell out very fast.

Huayna Picchu is limited to 400 visitors every day and Machu Picchu Mountain allows just 800 each day, so hurry up book your entrance ticket to avoid disappointment!

Main Ruins of Machu Picchu is OPEN

The main section of Machu Picchu, the part which most of travellers are looking for to visit, will remain open throughout April 2016 and whole year every day. Both mountains maintenance in April is not going to affect the availability to enter the main Machu Picchu Ruins.

Classic Inca Trail sold out permits

Unfortunately, Classic Inca Trail, the 4 days and 3 nigh trek to Machu Picchu permits are sold out up to the September 2016. If you are planning to hike this trek later than September this year, check The Classic Inca Trail Availability now and book in advance.

In a beginning of 2016, the Peruvian government uploaded another 250 permits per day to the whole system designated for the Short Inca Trail (2 days and 1 night). The 500 places were shared with guides, porters and hikers, now all 500 are for tourists.
