About Us

Most of the people who is about to visit Machu Picchu wants to see the ruins from the higher point. For this reason, Huayna Picchu and Machu Picchu mountains are very popular hikes for tourist to reach the point up in the mountain to see more of the historical Machu Picchu ruins. For those who are planning visit Machu Picchu and attend one of the mountains or both this year, please read very important information about the mountains closure due to maintenance.

What about the Inca Trail? We have an article about Inca Trail Closure for 2016.

Peruvian officials have announced that Huayna Picchu and Machu Picchu Mountains will be closed for tourists during April 2016. Good news are that mountains closures are not at same time, each one for 15 days. Huayna Picchu will be closed for the first 15 days, and Machu Picchu for the second 15 days of April.

Over 1,000 people together daily hike the climbs. Therefore, the trail needs maintenance in parts such as platforms and walls. This is not first time that maintenance is needed for both mountains but it is first time that both will be closed to do it.

Book your adventures in Huayna Picchu and Machu Picchu in advance and have a great inca experience!

Machu Picchu Ruins are open 365 days per year

Do not get the information wrong. The mountains of Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu will be closed for two weeks each in April 2016, but this does not mean that the main citadel of Machu Picchu is closed as well. The ruins are open all through the year. So if you still want to visit Machu Picchu itself during April this year you still can.

About the February closure

Note that the Inca Trail will be closed in February normally as every year also for maintenance reasons and because of heavy rains which would make Inca Trail too muddy and difficult to complete, as for both tourists and porters.  The February Inca Trail closure does not affect visits to Machu Picchu. Check the Inca Trail availability here.
