About Us

The Machu Picchu citadel is known worldwide as one of the top destinations in Latin America. Here we are going to answer the frequently asked questions so you can have really the most from your unforgettable vacation in Cusco!

Let’s see the frequent questions about the Machu Picchu tour 1 day:

1.What is the best time to visit Machu Picchu?

Indeed, any time of the year is just great. Here in the Cusco region rainy season goes from late November to late March but in turn this is our Summer, so the climate is warmer, and as to the rains, they are hard but brief, not everyday, good waterproof tennis shoes and poncho will be the perfect solution. From April to October there is no rain at all but as more visitors come, you will have to start booking with some advance, also the site will be a little bit more crowded but not to the point of being an inconvenience.

2. How long is the tour at the Machu Picchu site?

On our 1-day packages, the professionally-guided tour takes from 2:30 to 3 hours, it depends. Some of them will also allow you to spend an extra time after the regular tour to continue exploring the citadel at your own itinerary and pace.

3. Should I worry about entrance tickets availability?

Not at all. You only have to start booking procedures within some prior time, and TOUR IN PERU will include all entrance tickets to Machu Picchu, bus, train tickets as well. All transfers are also covered. The same applies if you are an ISIC eligible student.

4. Is altitude sickness a serious issue?

This is one of the most frequently asked questions. It is not a serious issue. Altitude sickness may happen because the higher you go the less oxygen is available in the air. Therefore, this lack of oxygen may lower bodily energy and cause some effects like headache, tiredness or shortness of breath. But everybody needs to arrive before in Cusco City (3.399 meters above sea level) so the best thing to do is to spend some days here and acclimatize. Drinking plenty of water and also coca leaves tea will be a powerful measure, and finally there are over-the-counter pills for the very few difficult cases. Machu Picchu is at 2.430 meters asl, so if you are already ok in Cusco City, your tour will be amazing.

5. What should I bring to the 1-Day Tour?

Another of the very frequently asked questions and it is important to give all the information:

  • Your passport or ISIC card
  • Sun hat or cap, sunglasses, t-shirt, light jacket (rain poncho if on rainy season), light pants, comfortable socks, tennis shoes. If you also want to enjoy the famous hot springs in Aguas Calientes village, bring a swimsuit, sandals, towel and comb.
  • Sunblock, insect repellent
  • Extra cash in Peruvian money (for souvenirs, meals are not included, for expenses in Aguas Calientes)
  • Photographic camera, smartphone
  • Bottled water, some snacks
  • Small plastic bags for disposals

6. What items are not allowed in Machu Picchu?

  • Walking poles
  • Selfie sticks
  • Professional cameras
  • Large backpacks
  • Tripods
  • Cigarettes, any alcoholic beverage
  • Big umbrellas

7. How good are the guides?

All guides in TOUR IN PERU are native from Cusco, they are professional and licensed, speak English fluently and are experts on Inca culture, Andean geography, flora, fauna and civilization. They are also very experienced in leading solo visitors or groups.

8. How can I enjoy Aguas Calientes?

Bring extra cash in soles (Peruvian currency) and you will have time to go to the quite relaxing hot springs and/or go around the village. There are typical Inca massages, excellent Peruvian foods and drinks, a handicraft market and a museum.

9. How can I be sure a travel agency is competent and reliable?

A competent, reliable travel agency must be licensed, certified by the Peruvian government and this must be shown on the website. Also, you can check travelers’ testimonial and other internet resources, like Tripadvisor and YouTube posts. TOUR IN PERU is a totally certified, licensed travel operator with more than 8 years leading the market, nationally awarded Peruvian Company of the Year 2017 – Tourism Branch.

10. Since this is a 1-Day tour, how could I add a side trip to my vacation?
