About Us

Traveling abroad is awesome but it is also good to prevent any disease if going to wilderness regions. Here we explain about vaccines required for Peru so you can do the Classic Inca Trail, other packages and even going to the jungle with no worries about health.

Vaccines Required for All Peru

The World Health Organization (WHO) strongly recommends travelers to get the following ones:

vaccinesYellow Fever: although some may say it is not indispensable in specific regions of this country, the fact it’s transmitted by mosquitoes makes it quite advisable to get the shot, because the Machu Picchu area is lower, jungle border with the presence of said insects. Moreover, places like Iquitos, the Manu National Park, or Tambopata are deep in the Amazon, so our advice is not to take any risks and get protected.

vaccines

Typhoid: all the food and drinks supplied by TOUR IN PERU comply with all standards of hygiene. However, as this disease is transmitted via contaminated water or meals, and you may want to try typical Peruvian food by yourself (we have partner restaurants and bars, but the idea is getting you 100% covered), get this vaccine too. In all cases though, be careful with your nutrition and always ask the guide or our staff for advice on food safety around Peru.

vaccinesHepatitis A: again, our travel agency provides food and drinks with excellent hygiene, however, this disease is widespread in South America and it is impossible to rule it out in other places and providers. Although it’s easy to make a full recovery, the infection symptoms (nausea, tiredness, and fever for two weeks or more) will spoil your dream vacation in our country. The sure way to get rid of all worries is to get a shot back in your country.

Vaccines Required for the Inca Trails

Apart from the 3 vaccinations for Peru recommended above, there is no specific one required for doing the Inca Trails.

Anyway, the food and drinks TOUR IN PERU includes are safe; you should also bring your snacks for in-between-meals but always make sure they are properly packed, and clean. We tell our travelers to bring an antibacterial hand sanitizer for several reasons and using it before eating/drinking is one of them. Some Inca Trails will require you to bring water purifying pills, to drink from the river. We have this information on the tour description.

Additionally, consider visiting Choquequirao, another stunning archaeological site, often referred to as the “sister city” of Machu Picchu. It’s a challenging but rewarding trek, offering a glimpse into the ancient Inca civilization.

Vaccines Required for the Peruvian Jungle

Besides hepatitis A, yellow fever and typhoid vaccines, the WHO and other institutions recommend prevention measures against malaria; now the best way to do this is to consult with your physician for there are many possible ways to stay safe from this potential illness spread by mosquitoes in the Amazonian woods and trails.

So, getting covered with these vaccinations and also following proper health and hygiene procedures will keep you ok while enjoying the wonders of this nation anywhere. Our staff and guides are always available to clarify all of your questions and doubts about these issues.
