About Us

The Machu Picchu citadel is a really valuable Peruvian cultural heritage. Damaging that area or any of its constructions in whatever way will have sanctions and even legal consequences. On this article we show the regulations all visitors must comply.

1. Use of backpacks bigger than 40x35x20 cm (15.7×13.7×7.8 inches). If you go with one, it will have to be put in the locker, for an additional price. Bringing food or kitchenware (out of the backpack). Entrance under influence of alcohol or any drug. Possession of alcoholic beverages or illegal substances.

2. Use of umbrellas and similars (you should use a waterproof coat, a sun hat and dark glasses depending on weather); tripods, selfie sticks and similars.

3. Any kind of animals (with the exception of dogs for blind people). Aerosols. Stopping on narrow sections for using cell phones is not permitted (creates congestion). You can do it at wide areas. All types of musical devices or sources of noise pollution.

The main articles prohibited in Machu Picchu.

4. Entering with high-heel shoes or whatever footwear that does not have a soft sole. Use of baby carriages.

5. Knives and weapons alike are not permitted. Also, whatever kinds of billboards for advertising or activism. Making noise or shouting with crowds, rallies, protests.

6. Damage in any form of the lythic structures, flora, fauna of the site. Also, social activities which are not in accordance with the history of the site like partying. Lewd behaviors are not permitted at all either.

7. Using walking poles that don’t have soft rubber tips. (In the case of the disabled or elders, theywill bring walking canes with a proper rubber tip).

8. Smoking or using e-cigarettes. Igniting whatever type of fire. Throwing garbage anywhere in the site’s area (please bring some small plastic bags). Selling of any products. Feeding the animals in and around the site.

9. Filming or photo shoots with commercial purposes or at dangerous spots. It is also not permitted in Machu Picchu flying over with paragliders, drones or similar aerial devices.

10. Entering the citadel is illegal if done via hidden, forbidden routes.
