About Us

The Titicaca Lake tour, 2 days, is becoming quite famous among travelers worldwide, for it is an integral experience: nature, history, culture, relax, shopping and so on. Here are our suggestions for a wonderful time in the Peruvian Altiplano (high plane).

Preparing for the Titicaca Lake Tour

  • There are no international direct flights either to Cusco or Puno (main town next to the lake), so you should book one until Lima and from there connections are available daily for both cities. The Lima-Cusco flight takes 1:20 hour and Lima-Puno is 1:45 hour
  • Please pack warm clothes throughout the year because the region is cold, but yet sunny, so you must also bring sun hat, shades and sunscreen. If coming between November to March, get also a rain poncho or rain jacket for there are brief, infrequent pourings
  • The Titicaca region is at 3.800 meters above sea level thus altitude symptoms may occur at first. Get either to Cusco City (3.400 meters asl) or Puno some days before (there are many ways you can enjoy your time) for adjusting to the thin air (less oxygen). Be on a slow pace, rest, drink plenty of bottled water and also coca leaves tea which is an ancient, powerful Andean remedy. Altitude pills are a last but almost guaranteed resort

Suggestions for the 2 Days of the Tour

  • Have a good night’s rest before day 1 because the tour begins at 7:00 am. We strongly suggest you drink very little or no alcohol, no smoking, no greasy foods the previous days because they don’t mix well with altitude and motor boating.
  • This package includes wonderful hours of motor boating enjoying the Altiplano mighty landscapes and relaxing sailing on its blue waters. However, some people may experience what is called moving sickness or sea sickness, because the water wavy sounds, sights and sensations may confuse, disorganize the nervous system and trigger vomiting, dizziness and the likes. To prevent this, try as much as possible not looking directly at the water, keep your head from balancing much, take deep breaths regularly and stare mostly at the horizon and the mountains. Finally there are over-the-counter pills which will efficiently deal with this issue.
  • However, everybody manages to have a really great time in the Altiplano at the end. You will have professionally-guided tours of the islands on the Titicaca Lake: Uros, Amantani, Taquile. There will be a direct experience of their culture, society, history, gastronomy, geography and so on, including a unique overnight stay on night 1 at an Amantani family home.
TOUR IN PERU is a socially-concerned company. One more of our suggestions would be dear travelers to consider bringing donations for the aboriginal people of the islands, it can be food supplies, school items or even cash. Also, they make several typical, beautiful Andean products like clothing and souvenirs for selling, so you may want to spare some money for shopping there
