Corporate Social Responsibility Guide

Good Practices in Tourism

Within the CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) approach, TOUR IN PERU seeks that its activities, in addition to generating complete satisfaction in traveling clients, generate an effect of economic-cultural growth in society. In this sense, we publish this CSR and Sustainability Guide of TOUR IN PERU with a series of responsible practices focused on all the members of the TIP team and our stakeholders.

How does TOUR IN PERU contribute to Sustainability?

We promote the reduction of its use both in the company’s facilities and in all operations, through the following measures:

  • We use saving light bulbs.
  • We demand the only necessary use of electricity, avoiding leaving lights and electrical appliances on by mistake or in stand-by mode.
  • We promote the saving of electrical energy by our field staff (porters, cooks, muleteers, guides, drivers, TRC enterprises), as well as other strategic partners, including our traveling clients.
  • Making proper use of heating systems, air conditioning and the like.
  • Promoting the use of renewable energy, such as solar thermal to charge our lamps, etc.
  • Certifying and re-certifying our services through certifications in Tourism Sustainability and Corporate
  • Social Responsibility such as: TourCert, ISO 14001, etc. the same ones that demand a great environmental commitment.
  • Promoting a responsible final disposal of electrical equipment such as: batteries, batteries, batteries, chargers, fluorescent lamps and the like; the same ones that are delivered to authorized collectors.

An essential factor in the CSR and Sustainability Guide of TOUR IN PERU is the emphasis on the strictly essential use of gasoline or diesel in the transportation and tours that we use.

  • We minimize the use of transportation that uses fuel in the design of travel packages: planes, buses, vans, cars, etc. in order to generate environmental awareness, promote the health of traveling customers and responsibly enjoy our travel experiences.
  • We promote tours or travel packages that include responsible treks as our main services for our traveling clients, among them: the Salkantay Trek tour of 5 days and 4 nights, the Classic Inca Trail tour of 4 days and 3 nights , the 4 days and 3 nights Lares walking tour, the Choquequirao walking tour, etc.
  • We promote responsible fuel consumption practices by our strategic allies.
  • We take advantage of every opportunity to make group transfers, reducing the need to use a greater number of vehicles.
  • We promote the minimum consumption of fossil fuels (which emit CO2) in homes, families, friends, our clients and society in general.
  • We promote the avoidance of various types of water contamination with oils and other hydrocarbons.
  • We certify our processes through international standards such as TourCert, ISO 9001, 140001, 45001, among others.
  • Over time, we seek to make the transition to much more eco-friendly fuels.

In relation to water care, we comply with the following practices:

  • We promote in all the staff, both within the TOUR IN PERU facilities, and in the operational tasks in the field, awareness of saving water, which is vital for everyone.
  • We promote the responsibility of both field staff and our traveling clients, not to contaminate water reserves such as: lakes, rivers, the sea, etc., during travel experiences.
  • We promote the responsible use of washable products that are biodegradable such as: soap, shampoo, sunscreen, detergents, etc. during travel experiences as a way to protect water resources, and we encourage our traveling customers to make the permanent transition to that type of consumption as well.
  • We promote the conservation and cleaning of the liquid element in all possible ways, as it is an essential resource that benefits us all.

Regarding the use of paper, we promote the following measures:

  • We promote the digitization of all our processes and the management of information in the cloud.
  • We promote the acquisition of only recyclable stationery and cardboard items: paper bags, bond sheets, pads, notebooks, folders, books, etc.
  • We promote proper management in the segregation of paper in marked containers for its corresponding final disposal.
  • We promote the responsible final disposal of toxic objects such as: printers, toners, ink cartridges and the like; delivering them to authorized collectors.
  • We promote the registration of data regarding the amount of paper used, whether monthly, bimonthly, or annually, in order to promote better management of it.
  • We promote reforestation or tree planting in order to offset both the felling of trees for traditional paper production, and to offset the impacts inherent to our activity; for example through our alliance with the “You buy, we plant.” of the Pachamama Raymi project.
