You can go alone, with friends or your family! Enjoy together this experience and conquer this great destination. You can add the Rainbow Mountain to your Machu Picchu tour easily and anytime.
DETAILED ITINERARY – 7-Color Mountain Trek
Our staff will pick you up soon at 3:30 a.m. to go up to the Quesiuno area. The journey to the starting point of the trail takes about 3 hours so you will have some time to go on sleeping in the car and save some energy for the hike. Along the way and as the sun rises, you will appreciate the shapes of the mountains, the trees and all nature come to life again. Once in Quesiuno, we’ll have our breakfast as our staff set up the stuff for the hike.
At around 7:00 in the morning, we will start the hike (you can get your trekking poles if you think you’ll need them). During the hike we will appreciate different kinds of landscapes: high snow capped mountains, small rivers, low mountains and families of llamas and alpacas. The Sun and the Apu Salkantay snow mountain will be our protectors during the three-hour hike. It is important to wear a hat and try some sunscreen!
You can also rent a horse if you do not feel like hiking!
Once we will get to Vinicunca be prepared to be inspired. A mountain with seven colors like a colorful Andean poncho will be in front of your eyes. The guide will give you all the explanation of the geography and history of this place. Later, you will have time to take those amazing and funny pictures you have been waiting for. Get the best of this experience!
We will hike back to Quesiuno where we will have lunch and then we will return to Cusco in a private car.
Do not forget to bring with you clothes for rain. An extra pair of shoes, rain coat and jacket.
