Cusco is the second most voted city in the contest organized by the New7Wonders Foundation over more than 1200 cities.
New7Wonders Foundation which had previously named Machu Picchu as one of the New 7 Wonders of the World, has organized a campaign to elect the New Seven Wonder Cities of the World. It is here where Cusco city is becoming more popular thanks to the second position in the race.
The selection of cities began in January 2012 with the participation of more than 1200 cities. The 28 semifinalist cities will be known on September 21st, and the winners will be announced on July 7, 2014; the imperial city is expected to be one of the finalist and, of course, one of the winners of this new initiative.
