Inca Trail Availability For AUGUST 2024

The Inca Trail is one of the most famous and busiest trek in the World, 26 miles (43 km) combines stunning mountain scenery, subtropical jungle, cloud forest, and of course the variety of Inca paving stones, ruins and tunnels. The final destination of the trail is Machu Picchu “Lost City of Incas”. We believe it can be a challenge to prepare yourself properly and get all necessary information for the Inca Trail. Along with the number of available spaces left for the Inca Trail in August we will try to provide the information which will help you get ready for the trek in August in 2024.

AVAILABILITY for Inca Trail in August 2024

The availability on every each month and also in August may vary, but it is recommended that you make your booking in advance to avoid disappointment. You can check AVAILABILITY in August 2024 and proceed your booking. If there is no availability on the day you are requesting, have a look for other trips and treks which also get to Machu Picchu.

The Inca Trail permits are officialy released for 2024 season since October 2023. However, as the permits for the first months of the season are quickly sold, you can pre book them in our contact form. You can also check avaiability for other months in the following table:

Get ready for the weather in August 2024

The weather along the Inca Trail splits into two main yearly seasons. The dry – winter season starts from April through to October, and wet – summer season from November through to March.
August temperature varies between 20°C throughout the month, exceeding 23°C or dropping below 17°C only one day in ten. Most of the days are sunny.
Throughout August, the most common forms of precipitation are light rain.

Live local culture with celebrations in August 2024

On August 1st, an annual tradition called “Offer to the Land” is observed across Andean communities. This ritual involves a collective pause in agricultural work, refraining from using any tools to cultivate the land. It’s a symbolic gesture of gratitude and respect towards the Mother Land for the abundant crops and sustenance it provides to both people and animals.

During the “Corpus of San Cristobal,” a religious festivity held at the San Cristobal chapel, the community engages in traditional dances accompanied by musicians known as “gaperos.” These celebrations occur both a day before and on the main day of the procession, honoring the patron saint of transportation and travel.

The “Performance of the Warachikuy” takes place in August and/or September in Cusco. It involves a dramatic reenactment held at Sacsayhuaman Warachikuy, showcasing an Inca celebration. This event serves as a cultural tribute, reenacting the historical significance of the Warachikuy in Sacsayhuaman.

Finally, on August 30th, the “Santa Rosa” celebration brings together local peasants to partake in festivities featuring traditional music and honoring maidens. This joyful occasion commemorates community bonds and cultural heritage through lively gatherings and music.
