About Us

It is called the White City due to the extended use of surrounding volcanic rock for its constructions. This article about packing for Arequipa City Tour will totally help you with the things needed for this adventure around our second largest town.

Clothing

Weather conditions there are very similar to Lima’s, because both cities are close to the Pacific ocean. Your packing thus must be according to the seasons, which aren’t the same as in the Cusco region.

  • From mid-September to mid-April: no rain at all, the temperatures are high, strong sunlight. Your apparel hence must be a sun hat, dark glasses, light jacket (if you do the afternoon tour), long-sleeve light shirt (the reason for this is that Arequipa receives more solar radiation than average), light pant, running shoes (recommended for complete comfort). A high SPF sunblock is mandatory.
  • From mid-April to mid-September: the climate gets cold (especially between June to August). No rain either. The packing must include a cap, dark glasses (both for the wind anyway), warm jacket, shirt, warm pant or jeans, winter socks, running shoes.

Your Backpack

A light one will be enough for the Arequipa half-day journey. You should additionally bring bottled water in a reusable container, some snacks if you like (fruits, energy bars, crackers and the likes), a few plastic bags for disposals (biodegradable for environmental protection). Always carry your passport when traveling in Peru and cash in soles (national currency) for personal extra expenses like souvenirs.

Packing for Arequipa City Tour – Devices

  • Of course you must not forget a photographic camera
  • You may like to bring binoculars for enjoying amazing views at the Yanahura Gazer. The city is surrounded by volcanoes, most of them inactive, which make an unforgettable landscape. You will be able to intensely experience the mighty geography of the region!

Naturally, the Arequipa City Tour can be the perfect addition for an Inca Trail (for example the easy Short 2-Day trek, or a challenging one in Peru, the Salkantay Trek 5 Days), one of our classic Machu Picchu packages (what about the 2-Day Machu Picchu tour by train?), the Lake Titicaca region (you can check our amazing Titicaca 2 days tour which includes an unforgettable time on its inhabited islands) and so on.

Another wonderful alternative is doing the world-famous Colca Canyon 2-Day tour. It is near and offers great attractions like landscapes, gazers, local-only fauna (llamas, alpacas, condors), hiking and thermal pools! You can read our quite helpful packing list Colca Canyon 2 days.
