Travelers who are planning to visit one of the most popular tourist sites Pisac in the Sacred Valley of the Incas need to know that the site is temporarily closed this April 2016.
Sadly, after an accident on February 12, 2016, when one Peruvian family was hiking to the Pisac with 10 years old daughter, who died when crushed by a rock fall.
Heavy rains the night before, together with strong sunshine the day after may have loosen the rocks. Effective immediately, Peruvian authorities close the ruins immediately for the maintenance. The Pisac ruins schedule to re-open around April 30, 2016. The park is closed temporarily to do maintenance, contingent upon the success of the work and the opening could be delayed or earlier.
There are other tours and activities in the Sacred Valley. Pisac village and the market are not affected by the closure of the archaeological park.
