About Us

Although “Nikkei” is a term historically used to describe the ancient Japanese immigrants, today it refers to a popular good made in Peru.

Emulating Japanese custom and culture blended with the rich Peruvian ingredients, a new kind of cuisine was created. Whether it’s the Maki tokes with acevichado sauce or the lomo saltado sushi, there are lots of flavors and textures to enjoy.

If you’re in Lima, be sure to check out our list of some of the most amazing restaurants where you can find Nikkei food. At TOUR IN PERU, we’re always updating this list to keep you abreast of the current happenings.

What is the origin of the Nikkei food?

This question is quite tricky because the tradition originates from Japan but the ingredients are purely Peruvian. So, it’s a blend of both places. Agreeably, it’s Japanese, but it is also Peruvian. An example is the Acevichado Maki, a combination of the Japanese sushi roll made with Peruvian Acevichado sauce.

By now, you’re probably wondering, “Sounds good, but where do I them?”.  Well, we’ve put together a list of the best restaurants in Lima, Peru where Nikkei food is served fresh and yummy.
