Jorge Mario Pedro Vargas Llosa was born in Arequipa-Peru on March 28, 1936. Mario, our Peruvian writer, also has Spanish nationality since1993.
He is considered one of the most important contemporary novelistsand essayists, his work has garnered numerous awards, among the ones which highlight are that of the 1986 Prince of Asturias Award of Literature and the 2010 Nobel Prize in Literature. Also since 2011 he has gotten the ceremonial title of Illustrious Lord for being Marquis.

der of liberal ideas, not onlyof our country, but also in Latin America and the world. He ran for the presidency of Peru in the 1990 elections by the center-right political coalition Frente Democrático (Fredemo).
Among the major literary work of Vargas Llosa we can mention: TheCity and the Dogs (1962), The Green House (1965), Conversation in the Cathedral (1969), Pantaleon and the Visitors (1973), The Feast of the Goat (2000), The Temptation of the Impossible (2004), The Bad Girl(2006), The Dream of the Celt (2010), among many other great literary works.

After many awards gotten by Mario Vargas Llosa for himself and thus, for our country, I hope many of us and of course our new generations are being inspired by his literature, which is why I invite you to investigate and read a little more about his life and literary work.
