Mountain Adventure in Machu Picchu
The ancient Inca hilltop sanctuary is a place that has everything! To begin with, it is located at a paradisiac spot, absolutely quiet and powerfully energetic. There are two beautiful, quite enjoyable mountains visitors can explore: the Huayna Picchu and the Machu Picchu.
Huayna Picchu Mountain
It is actually inside the citadel. It’s the one which stands out on every postcard of the site (1,181 feet or 360 meters high from the site’s level). The one-day hiking tour to its summit is very famous among visitors, because as they go up, they will find amazing Inca constructions, a wonderful natural environment and at the peak, an all-around view of the entire jungle valley and the citadel itself. Machu Picchu Hike Adventure
Now the Machu Picchu mountain is outside the complex, but very close (elevation from the site’s level is 2,070 feet or 631 meters). Visitors can do the hike up and down across a relaxing, peaceful ecology. This mount is actually higher than the other and offers a unique sight of the complex and the Urubamba valley.

Snow Peak Ahead: The Salkantay Snowy
But there is much more! The Andes range encompasses our entire region, so we have many spectacular mountains and snowies in Cusco. The Ausangate (20,945 feet / 6,384 meters above sea level) is a sacred mountain for Andean people and so is the Salkantay (20,574 feet / 6,271 meters asl), both are marvelous snowies located among extraordinary natural scenery and views, ideal for perfect pictures and videos.
A 5-day trekking tour to the Salkantay gets very close to them, giving hikers a truly unforgettable experience.
Natural Awesomeness: Humantay and Vinicunca
The Humantay snowie is another heavenly spot on the highlands, at an elevation of 18,920 feet (5,835 meters) asl. Part of its snow has melted and created the spectacular Humantay Lagoon, which perfectly mirrors all the landscape on its still blue waters.
The Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca) trek has become one of the most wanted in Peru. Hikers go from Cusco City to a campsite on a bus ride, and from there walk until the mount at around 16,200 feet (5,000 meters) over sea level. The name was given because at that place, the soil is multicolored due to its chemicals, it’s an isolated spot filled with complete silence and awesomeness.
