According to a survey from the United States Tour Operators Association, Peru went from being one of the top emerging destinations of 2013, to one of the top destinations for this year.
Peru tied with China for 3rd place among the top destinations, and came in behind the United Kingdom in 2nd place, and Italy in 1st.
In 2013 the top emerging destination was Myanmar, followed by Vietnam, India, Peru, and Cambodia.
Myanmar is still in 1st place among the emerging destinations, Vietnam and Cambodia are tied for 2nd place, and India is in 3rd.
The United States is the 2nd country in the world by number of visitors to Peru, with 447,200 in 2012. Chile is the first, with 806,929.
