About Us

Very near to Cusco city, there is the Sacred Valley of the Incas, a wonderful, amazingly beautiful geographical area with many Inca archaeological sites. On this article we will talk about this premier touristic destination.

Get Surprised in the Natural Inca Valley

The Sacred Valley of the Incas is one of the most serene, majestic and beautiful regions in Peru, with a warmer weather and unforgettable landscapes. Places like Urubamba, Pisac and Ollantaytambo have the most beautiful natural scenery anyone can expect, plus the reinvigorating and greatly relaxing natural energy flow of Andean nature.

For instance, the city of Urubamba, about a 1-hour ride from Cusco city by bus, is located in the middle of an adorable valley surrounded by huge, massive mountains, surely one of the highlights in the Cusco region, an amazing natural landscape. It adds to the awe in this place the fact that the Andes range once was submerged deep in the Pacific ocean, and surfaced from down there in a major geological event.

Sacred Valley Attractions for All People

Here are the main, best destinations in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, full of history and beauty:

Pisac

It is a top destination which is on the way to Urubamba; the first thing to be noticed are the typical agricultural terraces the Incas built on mountain slopes, way up high, thus Pisac was a very important place for crop production, mainly of corn, potato and coca, the basis of Inca diet.

Ollantaytambo Ruins in the Sacred Valley of the Incas

The archaeological site is also a must, with administrative areas and sectors for religion, mainly a worshipping of water, which the Incas deemed sacred because it is essential for agriculture, the very foundation of Inca economy. Also, there can be found a solar clock (Intihuatana), which helped with the calendar of festivals and production stages. In the nearby village of the same name, you could go shopping for all kinds of typical souvenirs at the famous village markets.

Pisaq is one of the destinations we recommend for families. Plan your trip with these tips and enjoy it!

Ollantaytambo

This is a village which also has an Inca archaeological site; very little has changed here since Inca times, thus it is the closest thing to time travel to what things were like in the 15th century. The village and site are located on an astonishingly beautiful valley, surrounded by mountains under a wide open blue sky.

The archaeological site is quite wonderful, a top display of Inca imperial architecture; also with a typical terraced agricultural area, the site has the administrative areas but also a mighty fortress, with a construction so advanced and massive that some have even posited that it was either built by extraterrestrials or using anti-gravity alien technology. However, scientific research strongly suggests that the Incas used a large workforce and techniques employing ropes, levers and poles to patiently build their large fortresses and sanctuaries.

Urubamba

An unforgettable place in the Sacred Valley, located in the middle of a mighty, majestic landscape; you can see the long Urubamba river flowing towards Machu Picchu, and enjoy a very relaxing and typical city, which many foreigners have made their permanent residence. A quiet city, with great typical food and warm weather.

Chinchero

Visit the Sacred Valley and visit the markets and archaelogycal sites

Craft Markets are colorful and typical

Here in this much typical Andean village, you can have great views of the Vilcabamba range -a branch of the Andes- and shop at a really popular market; Chinchero was a resort for one of the Inca kings, Tupac Yupanqui, the way Machu Picchu was for another Inca, Pachacutec. The most important Inca archaeological piece here is a long wall at the village’s Main Square; behind it, the Spanish invaders built a church which has also become a delightful attraction.

Moray

This is a place where you will be marveled by an agricultural research Inca lab; here, they used the concentric terraces to test a variety of seeds and crops in many ways. Actually, several plants like maca were originally poisonous, and were gradually adapted for humans. The Incas had a wide, advanced knowledge of plants, crops and agriculture.
