Choquequirao Trek Packing List – Electronics

  • Photographic camera (you would like to record all the natural splendor along the way and the Choquequirao ruins!)
  • A smartphone can be also useful for some photos and videos
  • Charging cords
  • Extra batteries for them (a new option is bringing portable solar panels for electrical supply)
  • Some hikers pack a GPS device for adventure and knowing the exact coordinates along the trek

Drinks and Food

  • Bottled, no gas water is a must because staying hydrated helps with everything: stamina, altitude etc. Again, no one-use bottles to prevent plastic contamination
  • Also bring water purifying pills so you can get it from the river
  • Having coca leaves tea at reach is always very advisable: boosts energy, bodily warmth, solves possible altitude symptoms and muscular pain
  • TOUR IN PERU will provide 3 breakfasts, lunches and dinners, but since there are quite long hiking stretches, you must also bring snacks of your preference: fruits, cereal bars, chocolates, sandwiches, crackers, canned food, etc. Make sure you have a proper supply on the packing list

Health and Hygiene

  • A sunblock cream is obligatory all year round
  • Also insect repellent
  • Altitude pills, only with medical authorization (although if you previously acclimatize in Cusco City you’ll not need them)
  • If you’re currently taking any medication, do not stop, include it on the packing list
  • Antibacterial hand sanitizer (before eating, for general hygiene)
  • For getting ready: soap, razor, shampoo, toothpaste and toothbrush, deodorant, comb, etc
  • Toilet paper. Towel paper (better for some situations like wiping hand gel etc)
  • Small towel

Choquequirao Trek Packing List – Miscellaneous

  • A copy of your passport (mandatory for registration and control procedures by Peruvian officials)
  • ISIC if you’re a holder
  • Small plastic bags for disposals, wet items (only biodegradable or reusable ones are allowed)
  • If you’re going to the Conoc thermal baths on day 4 (recommended): swimsuit, towel, sandals
  • A hiking pole is utterly recommended for balance, traction etc. We have them for rent
  • A suitable, lightest possible backpack (if coming on rain season, please make sure to get your gear covered with impermeable coats)

Naturally, since Choquequirao is called “Machu Picchu’s twin sister”, you most likely would love to also experience the original Machu Picchu citadel! What about the splendid 2-Day Machu Picchu tour plus Huayna Picchu hike? And after all the hiking, perhaps you’d like to ride a bus for the final adventure in Cusco… in this case, we recommend the amazing 1-Day package of the Sacred Valley, which will put you in contact with the kind hospitality of the Andean people, its millenary ways of living, folklore, ancient wisdom, in addition to splendid Inca sites like Pisac and Ollantaytambo.
